LAMB
Mild flavoured and succulent - the all time South African favourite!

Lamb is undoubtedly South Africans' favourite red meat. From Roast leg of Lamb for a traditional Sunday Lunch to a typical South African Braai - our world would just not be the same without Lamb.
Mutton is usually from a sheep two years and older. It has a better flavour than lamb, but it is not as tender and juicy as lamb. For slow cooking methods mutton is a better choice than lamb, and not quite as expensive.
By buying the right cuts of meat for the right recipe or cooking method, as well as deciding between lamb and mutton, you could stretch the budget slightly and have great success with every meal.
There is no better way to buy lamb or mutton than buying a half or whole carcass at a time, the price per kilo is likely to be less than you would pay for even the cheapest cut sold seperatly.
Go through your list of favourite recipes and have the butcher cut the carcass to your requirements - this way you will be assured of getting exactly what you want - and ready for those mouthwatering dishes.
